The Central Hokkaido Camp will take Japanese skiing to a whole new level with a mix of lift access side country and backcountry touring in the highest, steepest and deepest terrain in Japan. You will stay in central Asahikawa to make this tour affordable and allow us the flexibility to take you to wherever is best on the day based on snow and weather conditions. Added to this Asahikawa will give you a real insight into Japanese culture and food, and we will host you nightly to show you the best eating and drinking holes in the city and surrounds.

This is a fast paced trip 100% focused on finding you pow and ensure you do the best skiing of your life. There are no rest days, and we will ski every day that we can and find you the best conditions every day. To keep you safe, you will have a lead and tail guide daily, who as a bonus are both professional photographers. One will be taking photos for the entire trip and the other will be developing a short video for you all to remember it by. You will go to pow heaven on this tour!

Day 1
You will be picked up from Chitose airport in the morning and drive directly to Asahikawa. Depending on the road and snow conditions this trip can take anywhere between 2 and 4 hours. We will stop along the way to sight see, but the aim of this day will be to get to our accommodation and get all our gear set up to leave nice and early for skiing the following morning.

Day 2

The first day will be a lift access side country warm up day. This will be an opportunity to warm up the legs, get plenty of fresh pow without having to earn your turns and an opportunity for us to get to know you and your style. The resort we take you will depend on where there has been the most amount of snow overnight, but will most likely be Furano. The day will be finished with an optional onsen and dinner at a local Japanese restaurant.

Day 3

This will be our first backcountry day where we will head to the Asahidake ropeway. This day will be a combination of ropeway access pow and some touring. If the weather is clear we will be able to skin right up to the Asahidake fumaroles and ski off the peak. If it is overcast there is still plenty of epic terrain to ski from the ropeway. We will finish with an optional onsen and dinner at some exploration of Asahikawa at night.

Day 4

On this day we will spend our time touring around the peaks of Tokachidake. These mountains are some of the steepest in Japan.. combined with deep dry powder, this is a backcountry dream. We will finish up once again with an optional mud onsen at Ryounkaku Onsen and dinner at a local Japanese restaurant.

Day 5

On day 5 we will head out on another backcountry day. This camp is not for the faint hearted. There are no rest days and we are determined to find the best powder we can every day and give you one of the greatest skiing experiences of your life. So this day you will strap on your touring gear once again and we will take you wherever is best based on the snow and weather conditions.

Day 6

On this day we will have a little more mellow day to rest the legs after two big BC days. We will most likely do a lift access side country day at Kamui Ski Links, a fun little resort on the outskirts of Asahikawa. We will finish up with an optional onsen, dinner and a night out in Asahikawa to finish off the trip ;).

Day 7

On your final day we will leave early to get to Kokusai Ski Resort in the morning where we will ride the untouched side country runs of this fun little Japanese resort and further explore into their backcountry zones with potentially a bit of touring after lunch. Once finished we will stop at Jozankei to freshen up at an onsen before dropping you back to Chitose airport that evening.
